Just got my new Ipod and was curious if any of you have done the install yet?

I would really like to not have to do it with an RF modulator and if I have to scrap my CD player I am ok with that too as its a piece...Cheers

I am pretty sure it has been documented elsewhere. Unfortunately I can't find my notes for the procedure. You basically install a DPDT relay in the CD changer audio path, and trip the relay with a switch to select between CD and auxillary input.
Here is a picture of the box I built for this:

(note that in this picture it is connected opposite the way it is in the car.)
I cut the CD audio wires behind the head unit and spliced in a pair of female RCA connectors to the head unit side, and male RCA connectors to the CD changer side. This way I can bypass the whole setup by plugging those together. Then I built a box with one pair of RCA male connectors (the output) and two pairs of RCA female connectors (the two inputs). Inside the box is the aforementioned DPDT relay. Additionally two wires for the relay coil exit the box. In my case one goes to the remote amp enable signal from my secondary head unit, but in your case it could go to a switch with +12V on the other side of the switch. The other relay wire goes to ground.

Unless some systems are a lot different than mine, which is the Gamma CC / 10 disc setup. The Delta CC is not RF either.
The ipod headphone output should be a pretty good match for the head unit input at medium volume.

Steve Eiche, of Shadetree SW fame, did the install of a Euro Nav Plus and the hardwire install of an iPod on my wife's A6 4.2. There are numerous companies that have retrofit hardwire kits. I think we used aPac Audio unit. HTH.
