Just replaced the Bosch 710A BPV with a 110 model and peak boost dropped from 16psi down to 14psi. Car seems to pull just as hard through midrange but is stronger now up top. With old valve even though boost was at 16 the car felt flat above 5K rpm. Verified it is installed correctly, I am curious why car feels noticeably faster with 2psi less max boost. Any thoughts?

Your previous BPV probably was leaking which made the turbo work harder to get to the target boost level. This might throw the turbo out of its efficiency range and hece the air is hotter resulting in "more" boost but less actual air flow.

I appreciate the input. As long as I can be sure everything is right now and the car is running better, I am not that concerned what the boost reading is. I always thought it was strange how the power would drop of significantly above 5Krpm, what with a 7K redline. I have read that these cars do run out of steam up top but this seemed more pronounced than what the HP/torque curve would suggest.
