Default Got some generic Goodyear heater/radiator hose from Checker...slightly bigger than OE...

...also tried slightly smaller (3/8", 9.5mm ID) but it wouldn't fit over the rear barb.

The bigger sized Goodyear hose (5/8", 16mm ID) has a thicker wall than OE and slightly bigger ID (OE was just about 1/2", 12.7mm ID)...

...the socket/wratchet on the clamp.

Ya think? It's quite a bit stiffer and thicker than stock...?

Default Heat is the problem. It will get very brittle and disintegrate from the inside out.

See the black deposits in the coolant tank here?

That's the tank that was in my S4 when the first replacement hose was disintegrating. The black crud is rubber. I flushed out a ton of it and replaced the radiator and heater core. The stuff that's left in the tank is permanent.

Default Well I ordered a new OE hose from the dealer... <$8 my cost.

How can the Goodyear hose be heater hose if it can't take the heat?

You made no mention of trying the Goodyear hose, only fuel hose, power steering hose, etc...? What kind of hose was the Aeroquip?

Default That's not a bad idea, they do make those shiney supposedly heat reflecting hose sleeves...

I need to fix mine again this weekend, if I had some on hand I'd use it. Maybe I'll just use Reynold's wrap... lol.
