die. I came back home and while getting ready to check for error codes motor died in idle. The error code showed 2111. I checked in the error chart shows it to be the rpm sensor. I think the car has 2 of them. I have to go to sleep and work early tomorrow. I guess going to have to wait to another day.

Default More detail required.

What is "a huge miss"? Skipping? Under load? All the time? Or is it a buck under load?

Did you check codes with the car running? If not, the crank position sensor will throw a code. POS and coil problems do not throw codes.

Default 4Driver4 is right, if the engine is not running you get a 2111

because there is no signal. I remember that as a note in the Bentley.

Default Link to Crank Position and RPM sensor location and function info (inside).

Just for information. As Tom says, usually, the 2111 code is thrown when the engine doesn't start. However, I do believe that at some point these sensors do indeed fail and the code is real. This may or may not be your problem.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4s6/msgs/116988.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/s4s6/msgs/116988.phtml</a</li></ul>

Default The car was running when I checked the codes. As a matter of fact it died just before the check and

I restarted it. but it also missed twice big time as soon as I went from 1st to second gear.

Default

The crank position and/or rpm sensor codes could be real.
