Default Your saying a $100 pedal is more important than $1000 labour +$500 clutch/fw-resurface + days ?

Wow I feel so out of touch with your reality...

Default Are you saying you'd rather wait until you have cancer than prevent it earlier? Same..

... idea. The stiff clutch is a sign that your clutch is wearing (remember this is not your normal clutch and flywheel, its a dual mass flywheel and a non-sprung clutch disc). If you ignore the symptom of the disease, the disease will manifest itself (either the clutch will really fail or the clutch pedal will break). If the clutch pedal breaks, sure its only a $100, but where are you going to be when it fails, in the parking lot of your local dealer? No. You will be on a road trip miles from nowhere, going around twisty corners, out in the boonies, and then WHAM!!! No clutch and you're toast at the side of the road, waiting for Clyde and Cletus to come a fetch you in their cable winch truck (forget flat bedding or dollies). Then they drag you and your car back to their Uncle's shop where Bille Bob Thornton (read: U-turn, the movie) reckons how he thinks he can fix your fancy Yer-oh-pee-in vee-hick-kill.

All I am saying is save your self the aggrevation and be pro-active. Don't let yourself be a victim of your car. Change the freakin' clutch. 8 hours shop time max. Parts as low as around $250 for Luk (OEM) packaged as Exceedy (sp).

Default Ok the poster clarified that he doesn't know UrS4 pedal feel, and it's still better than other cars

By analogy : if I said my uncle died of kidney cancer at 95, should I rush to hospital to get mine removed at the first sign of lower back pain ? Puh-lease!

As he's a new owner, the guy just needs to be told that UrS4 clutch pedal is (normally) stiffer than other cars, and to try someone else's UrS4 or get a second opinion before taking the advice of any shop and forking out kilo-bucks and inconvenience.

Inciting panic is playing into the hands of the shop salesman, and not very objective.
