Default My clutch pedal dropped to the floor the other day.Can I confirm this is the slave master cylinder?

Driving to work, go to down shift and the pedal dropped to the floor, I managed to drive back home in second.
What else do I need to replace if any thing? Is this a sign of a worn clutch?

Default Slave.

It's a guess - but the clutch? It still holds enough for you to put power to the wheels, so it's probably not the clutch.

BUT, since you're gonna be doing the slave anyway, why not replace the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing? Might as well finish the job you're gonna start...

Default Obviously I would want to replace them with new right? Or I could buy Skolnicks used and hope they

last as long as my aging clutch? I think a buddy and I can do the slave and master, but I dont want to mess with the clutch itself. I would let a mechanic do that.

Default Buy new, they're not that bad on your wallet.

They're about $140 for both at autohuasaz.com, there's free shipping too.

Default you might find out you have broken the rod into the master cylinder, seems pretty commen

if your clutch pedal feels heavy compared to other cars you drive, then it's likely that a worn heavy clutch killed your master cylinder, and replacing just the cylinder and not clutch only buys you a little time before you brake something else.

these are things you want to get new

Default master cylinder actuator rod broke...stfa....replace master cylinder and might as well do slave

clutch itself is most likely fine

clutch is culprit for breaking rod, too much pressure to depress
