Default OE Airfilter Intake...

So I decided to put my stock air filter box back in, since I was missing the front intake part I ordered it new from the dealer(the correct ANN part).
I diligently got all my pieces together and at first glance it looked so easy, just slide the front intake piece into the elbow and connect the big maf to the stock air box.

Well thats as far as I got, I was never able to get the intake into the elbow, it just would not fit even with the 2 pieces off the car they just would not slide into each other.

Does anyone know why this simple process is MI for me. Does bentley have any words of wisdom.
At this point I am about to let the Audi Dealer have a go and they want 100$ to do this :-(

But I can not get it done myself...

Default You might have to remove the headlight and air box to do that.

Search the FAQ for the headlight replacement DIY, there are some tricks that will bite you if you don't know them.

Default They were out

I actually had to top front cross member out as well as the headlight and bumper as I was relocating my PS cooler. I also test fitted the 2 parts out of the car and they just would not fit.

I am baffled the only thing I can think of is perhaps that the second part is too old and has no give but it is actually meant to fit into the front air intake. Or perhaps the part is off a v6?

No idea...

Post the two PNs (should be on the parts) and I will have Kate check them for correctness.

Default If you're talking about the intake that mounts just behind the grille and goes down into the

airbox, I just got this to go together correctly on Saturday. Mine would never go in either, but it did Saturday with lots of wiggling the intake and putting a screwdriver down in to press the notched part down so it would go into the receiving part of the airbox. I knew it wasn't right to begin with because no matter how I tried I could never get it to go back far enough to be secured with the screws at the mounting tabs.
Fits nicely now.

You're not missing anything Nic.

Put the box in sans heat shield...once you've got it all in, then screw in the heat shield.

I've taken that unit on and off so many times I think it takes me all of 2 mins to do it.

......what front pc. are u missing ? I'm 99% sure I gave you the oem unit intact .

I'll look in the garage again, but me thinks its all there.

Take a pic of where you're at and post it...I'll walk u thru it./...don't pay 100.00 for that.

Default Pics of the culprate

OK so here is the new part which should screw into the top of the radiator top plate.

What it should fit into:
I actually partially hacked this part out of desperation to get it to go into the upper part but to no avail. Perhaps I will have to take out the KY and get lots of muscle...;-)
