Default Oil trouble...

On Sunday my oil light came on about 2 miles from home, and I immediately turned the engine off and coasted to the side of the road. After checking under the hood, noticed sprayed oil on the driver's side of the car. I checked the dipstick, and there was not much oil on it.

Looking around, I didn't notice a trail of oil on the pavement, nor did I notice any oil on the underside of the hood. So, the leak appeared to be slow, and "spraying" at a relatively low rate.

I phoned a friend, and bought 10 quarts of oil. After filling the car back up (with 5 quarts), we started it and didn't see any oil leaks.

I drove the car 2 miles to my house (it ran perfectly fine) and parked it. No other oil appeared to have leaked out of the car.

My questions are:
1) Is it possible that this is only some sort of "high pressure" oil leak? I don't really "push" the car anymore, but maybe it only leaks in the higher RPM range?
2) Given the photos below, where would you suggest that I start looking first?

Here are some photos:

Default my bad, sending unit that isn't

Hi Mike:

Use a 1/4" drive long extension with a swivel to get at this. It is the only reasonable way that I have come up with to get at these.

best regards,
kevin

Default No, thats located at the oil pump near the bottom of the crank pulley. The oil pressure switch is..

located on the block, towards the front, on the same side as the knock sensors. Kinda hard to describe let me see if i can dig up a pic. you might find one in the FAQ. its about 2 or 3 inches big.
