OK, can someone help me with throttle body install?
Thought it would be pop and swap, but the bored throttle from 034 needs to be adjusted to proper idle position (duh)... I guess i was hoping for the best when i plopped it in.
So, it's actually already installed, I just need direction on adjustment. Oh and, yes i'm looking into a Bently as you can see from thread below.
At this point I'm also waiting on a potentiometer (throttle position sensor) ordered from FAP because the last thing preventing me from smogging the car is this CEL:
1 Fault Found:
00516 - Closed Throttle (Idle) Position Switch (F60)
30-00 - Open or Short to Plus
Readiness: N/A
I'll keep my fingers cross that the TPS is bad because this is turning out to be the most expensive tuneup in the history of mankind.

All I can say is adjust the dash pot bolt until the throttle plate *just* closes gently and...
adjust the cable so foot to the floor = WOT at the plate.
Sorry, I don't think its more complicated than that. Don't lose the clip on the throttle cable or you WILL be P*ssed.

LOL> i lost the clip, and salvaged one from my CQ... but..
I can hear that "click" in the potentiometer you were speaking of in prior thread. When the throttle is all the way closed i can hear a small click in the TPS. My problem is, i can only get it to click if i push the throttle closed (from the cam). I need maybe another 2 or 3mm before it rests at this closed position. otherwise if i release my finger rpms jump up to about 2300 and hold.
No matter how i adjust the dashpot, i'm still shy a few MM before throttle is at complete close.
Argh sooooo close....

Try it this way: Back the dash pot right off so it does not engage the throttle at all. If the
throttle is still not closing then it must be a cable adjustment issue. (???!!)
I'll look at my car when I go home tonight.

I've done that. I think it's that AND the fact that the throttle cam can be slightly adjusted...
<img src="http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/2135/throttleax6.jpg">
Even if i adjust the dashpot so that it doesn't touch the throttle...there is still about 3mm of play i need to compensate before the plate is fully closed and i hear that "click" in the potentiometer. The bolt circled above is where i've been tinkering with. I can also adjust the cam throttle itself to compensate play, as well as throttle cable position by removing the clip we were talking about above.
There is a small rod that "guides" the throttle cam back into position, held in by a pin. It is connected to the piece circled below (my old throttle). I think if i can release some slack on this rod, it will allow the throttle to close completely. Check out your throttle if/when you can and tell me what you think.
In the meantime, i'm on to bigger and better things tonight.... Thanks Dave!!!

Your ISV *is* connected, right? (Just checking). Looked at my throttle body and dash pot. The throt
tle just closes and I hear the idle switch in the TPS click. Looking to the right side of the roller wheel (that contacts the dashpot), I see what I would think to be as a throttle stop arm. (Maybe it isn't). But anyway, it is about 1.5 mm from hitting anything. Yours must be about 3 or 4 mm from hitting. (This isn't a solution, just a guide). I am thinking you need to pull the throttle body off the manifold and watch the action closely to figure out why it is NOT closing all the way.
Sorry this is difficult to diagnose over the interWEB.
Give us updates.

Perhaps you can spare me the suspense and tell me if Bentley has any pointers? heheheh....
I just bought it off that ebay link i posted below, but maybe you can take a peek in your copy and tell me if there's any resolution in the manual? thanks,
Brian

Yes ISV is connected. My problem is just getting it adjusted... i posted some pics below.
thanks for your input Dave. The throttle stop arm and that adjustment bolt on the outside is where i'm focussing on. But you're right i need to take the throttle off and see what's up.
No more light outside so this is my project for tomorrow....

Pg. J24-65 Vol. 1: Adjusting the Closed Throttle Position (CTP) switch automatically adjusts the TP
sensor:
- Loosen both TP sensor housing screws
- Turn TO sensor in direction shown (anticlockwise arrow) until stop is reached.
* - Throttle valve (throttle linkage) must NOT be moved
- Tighten TP sensor screws in this position
- Check CTP switch again
Presumably this is with the throttle body adjusted so the throttle plate closes properly relative to the dash pot.
Good luck.
