Default Open air Intake - vs - stock air box w/ filter......

I am thinking of buying the Dahlback Intake available for the UrS4 and I wanted to know if you guys had any comments or info about it. I have also looked at the air intake that 034 motorsports offers so I am debating on what to get. It looks like the Dahlback is a better choice since it comes with the heat plate and MAF connector....What do you think?

Currently the car is running with stock box + K&N panel filter and its fine....but I want something better or is it really better?

If I am running a stock K24 turbo and I buy an air intake now, if I upgrade to a bigger turbo later, wouldnt that mean I would have to change the air intake again since the inlet would be different???

Default Why do you think an "open air" filter is going to better than the stock air box?

For the real answer, search on "negative boost".

Default In general you will loose some low end torque but gain some top end power when using such a device.

Just make sure that if you do it you fab up a heat shield regardless of where the filter is located.

oh, and in my experience it also improves throttle response.

Stock Airbox w/ OEM piping to front of grill FTW. Designed like that for a reason.

I think its worth it just for the sound... but as far as performance goes its doubtfull you will see any gains, on a hot day you might even loose a little unless that dahlback system is really well insulated from the heat.

You will see no gains in your car, and a loss in your pocketbook/man purse

Default I have a dahlback intake

Performance wise, you probably won't notice too much, maybe a little. The noise is the big thing you will notice. You can hear the BPV and turbo much more than with the stock air box. I've had mine for a few years now an probably 50,000 miles or so, no problems. I did take off the heat shield off of the stock airbox an use it instead of the supplied one, as the stock one is larger and better sealing. Intake temps really only seem to significantly rise when stationary for long periods of time, once moving, temps cool quickly.
