Default outer cv boot - replacement

I need to replace my outer cv boot.
Can someone respond to the procedure.
I believe I can remove the 8 or so bolts from the tranny housing and the big bolt on the hub to slide the CV shaft completely from the car.
Is this correct?

TIA

Default yeah, that'll work, pop the ball joint, disconnect the tie rod , take the axle nut off and it's out

pay attention to the ABS sensor, you'll get grease on them and your ABS light might come on...ask me how i know ....make sure you clean them after....
good luck!
