Default It's pretty easy

Pull back the passenger footwell carpet
Remove the ECU (Screws and wiring harness)
Take the ECU to a good work surface
Use a flat heat screwdriver to gently pry back the metal "tabs"
ECU opens like a book.

Default URL Link to ECU removal before you rip your carpet up, etc.

Read the instructions and go slow so you don't break some of the plastic trim bits.

Default To get it to open like a "book" also need to:

Pry the two clips on the side of the ECU within the connector (male) area. A small flat head screw driver placed in the knotched area will actuate both the left and right hand locking mechanisms and you should be able to pull the ECU open "like a book"

Wish I had some pics of the exact tabs you need to actuate but once you get the ECU out you will see them
