Default Agreed with both of Dave's points...

Warm air from under the hood will undoubtedly *decrease* your power output and the K&N filter oil may have to be cleaned off of the MAF (on a regular basis) as it can affect the readings the MAF puts out. Nothing a little elbow grease can't fix, but none-the-less, I doubt you'll gain any power out of doing so Adam. If you do go with a K&N make yourself a heat shield for it (with ducting)... then by the remaining fluid I have left from the Z .

I'm sure you'd get some good power gains from it once you go RS2 and if you have a heat shield on... but without a heat shield, it's not worth it (unless you like the sound THAT much). My personal opinion anywho.

Default We have been testing a "Cold Air" intake on my car.

We ducted air from the oilcooler into the stock air filter and compared the intake manifold air temp it varied by as much as 10 degrees C. before we put the "Cold Air" mod on the car it was pulling air in from behind the radiator so I would say you definately dont want to be getting air from behind the Radiator.

Kewl sounds do NOT = COOL air does not = more horsepower. Its a bling intake with no hp gain.

Default Photo of Hap's (UrS4guy's) Generation II cold-air intake. Gen I was into the oil cooler duct. Gen..

II involved moving the oil cooler to the drivers side (where the OE intercooler was). Hap runs a massive FMIC. Plus a massive turbo, massive injectors, etc. etc.

One hint: With this type of intake, don't drive through any puddles or you may learn what "hydrolock" means.
