Default S-e-a-r-c-h t-h-e F-o-r-u-um A-r-c-h-i-v-e-s. (STFA) aka ST Freaking...

archives. Use the "Search Forums" button. Put your search text in the search box, e.g. DRL. Then Pull down the forums list until "Original S-cars", click on it and then hit the search button.

Its amazingly easy.

Default If everyone STFA, then there wouldn't be much to talk about...

I'm sure most things have been discussed in here at some point.

BEST LINK I FOUND WAS THIS FOR OTHERS WANTING TO DO THE SAME AS ME

Does anyone have pictures of the wire/resistor housing that needs to be disconnected in order to kill the DRLs?
I know that this info is available on:
1. urs4.com - suffering from a tko
2. s-cars.org - looks like its been hacked and left for dead.

Thanks for the info/pictures!

Rob

Disabling the DRL

Below is an elegant and nondestructive way of doing this. No wires to cut.

1. Disable the low beam portion of the DRLs:
1.1. Remove the bottom cover under the driver side dashboard.
1.2. Find the 2-prong BROWN round connector with the YEL/BLK and
YEL/WHT wires coming out of it. This connector is buried in the wire
mess above the pedal cluster. It connects the series resistor to the
LOW beam circuit. Thus the LOWs in the DRL mode are running through
this resistor at reduced current when ignition is "ON" yet the
headlights combo switch is "OFF".
Disconnect this connector.

2. Disable the parking lights portion of the DRL:
2.1. Open the main underhood relay/fuse box and remove the relay #7
(J90: top row, 4th from the left).

Enjoy the new found ability to work on the electricals of your car with the prolonged "ignition-on" condition without draining the battery

Default To disable the DRL's after you remove the bottom plastic panel ...

(I don't remember if you need to remove the knee bolster) you should be able to see the 'power distribution block'. I poked around there forever looking for this '2-prong BROWN round connector with the YEL/BLK and YEL/WHT wires coming out of it'. You will never find it there.

You need to remove the ducting that blows air into the footwell. After that look up and BEHIND the power distribution bar. You should then be able to see this connector. It is about an inch long, about .5 inch in diam. It is yellowish? in colour. with purplish/fuscia ends. Just disconnect it and voila... no more DRL's.

Is not that hard to find once you get back there. I only found it once I started taking apart the car to get at the vent motors. I saw it and had a 'lightbulb' moment. Let me know if that helps. Did this a while ago... so I hope I got the 'colours' right.
