Default Power Steering hose leak (Pump to rack)

Hi,
Just found my power steering leak. I had my wife nervously turn the steering while I look for leak and found that the top hose was leaking very bad when wheel were turn at maximum radius. The hose is leaking near the P/S at the junction between the hard line and rubber hose. I will removed hoses and bring it to a hydraulic shop for repair. Did somebody had the same problem? I didn't call the dealer yet for pricing, but this hose is probably an expensive one with the corkscrew fold near the power steering rack.

Default I recently had the other hose rebuilt...

I don't know about the one that goes to the rack. The rebuild for the one to the pressure accumulator cost about $50 (versus $500+ for a new one).

See this link for more info: Audifans Knowledge Base. (The audifans site isn't reachable from here right now, but I'm sure it'll be back soon.)

Default I believe "House of Hose" in Spokane Washington can do those.

That is really there name, pretty funny huh? Heres a link for ya. I just helped my buddy over on the Colville Indian Reservation (about 90 mile NE of Spokane) build a pumper fire truck and that is where he got the hose. About a week later I saw a post on here recommending them for Audi PS hoses. Now I see that it was Kday that had it done. I guess I should have clicked on his link.

http://www.spokanehose.com/</a

Default Re: Power Steering hose leak (Pump to rack)

Hi,
I had my hose rebuild for 60$ CAN, but there's no vibration damper as the original Audi hose, so now the hose is vibrating. They cut the hose and keept the fitting and intalled a high pressure hydraulic hose. Is there a special hose needed to reduce vibration?
