Default PSA: Check your spark plug torque. 22 lb ft. Clockwise only.

Spark plugs loosen with heat cycles and WILL blow right out of the head.

Click here if you need info on sparkplugs torquing and/or replacement

Default Checked my torque. Then the socket came off the end of the extension and got stuck down there.

Finally got it out after much effort, used a magnet. At least my plugs are all tight...

Default Locking extention FTW.

Dave F. recommended it to me, and he was right.

Default The socket getting tight around the spark plug hole is the reason why......

....plugs are unknowingly improperly torqued. (I think I just read this on s-cars) Snap-on seems to have the thinnest wall socket and it uses a magnet instead of a rubber grommet to hold the plug

Default Did you read the links that I pointed to? Including Spark Plug 101 for nOObs? I have done the...

same thing. (Used long needle-nosed pliers to retrieve the socket).

Makes me wonder about writing ANY BTDT procedures if people are not going to read them. Or re-read them before they actually go out to do the job.

Memory is a wonderful thing. But having a piece of paper with instructions is priceless.

Default Once upon a time I read it. I didn't read it today.

If I re-read instructions everytime I go to do something I'd spend all my time reading instructions.

Default So unless your memory is good (which it isn't) you're doomed to making the same mistakes that others

have made and have tried to prevent you from making.

Good luck with that.

Like buying the most difficult to find part (e.g. the RS2 brackets) first before spending $600 plus on calipers that are now useless to you.

Default That sounds like an attack. You need to grow up.

And show me where it says the RS2 brackets are hard to find? When I started buying brake parts a few months back everything was in stock. I began entering orders with numerous companies for all the components at the same time. It was only after I contacted 034 to buy the brackets was I told that they weren't available (and they then updated their website to reflect that). 034 then told me that within 2 weeks they would have replacements I could buy, which is why I never looked for alternate sources. Of course, that was a few months ago now and they still don't have them, so the situation has changed.

Carry on. Can't wait to read your next tale of woe. (I stand by what I said)
