when the car has been sitting for a more than 3-4 hrs, it takes 5-10 cranks to start it. it starts right up when warm. So i decided to change the fuel filter (after the car was sitting for a while) and removed the high pressure line, but the fuel only leaked out, didn't spray.
is there a drainback valve or is the pump thinking of going out.... Fuel pressure regulator
what do you think ?

But, it's one of those problems that could be a lot of things. I've got a similar hard start problem (intermittent) and I'm going to order a new FPR and see if that fixes it.
The part isn't that expensive, so I figure I'll start there.
There's a check valve in the FPR that is supposed to keep some fuel up by the rail so it will crank up easy (not have to pull fuel all the way from the tank), and that can fail.
