Default Rear track control arm (rear wheel camber adjuster)

Has anyone managed to remove a rear track control arm - the one that sets the camber on a rear wheel? The outer side is easy, but the inner side needs a ball joint puller tool - I've got four of these tools (two general-purpose pullers, and two tie-rod-end-removal tools), and none of them fits as there's not a lot of room in there.

Last time I needed to do one, I gave up on the inner ball joint, and just replaced the outer joint (which was the end that had excessive wear).

Any tips gratefully received!

Paul

Try a two jaw puller, loosen the nut about a 1/4 inch. Place puller and tighten and be ready for a pop, usually kind of violent. HTH

ya, that one is tough to get out. You can remove the rear subframe if you have to. I think it's a lot easier than it seems. Just 4 nuts hold the subframe to the chassis. The lower control arm connections come off easily...but you'd have to unbolt the center bushing for the rear diff mount. Then you could lower the subframe, put it on a bench or something so you have room to work on it.

Default Had another suggestion - use an air hammer ...

This could be the justification to buy another tool!

I'll look into how easy it is to drop the subframe. This might let me see more of the rear diff, which has a coating of oil on it (no drips on the frive though).

If you use the puller, no damage and you can reuse the link. However it may be damaged already from the tie rod tool.
