Default S6's Turbo glowing red....

i have noticed my car that everytime when i drive
my car with high boost continueously.I will see the turbo and Header is glowing red.So what is the problem ?
I'm wondering that may be the Catalytic has gone.(now my car is over 200,000KM)
because my car has very high fuel consumption 5km/L est. and take very long time to reach from 0-100km/h .but with highe speed range it's ok

Default I think the EGT's would drop if he were running rich?

I could be wrong. I usually mix up stuff like this.

I always thought that was normal. Hot exhaust gasses will do that, at least it did on my old DSM.

Default Well it is normal...but only after extended hard use.

Shouldn't be happening if you are just putting around. What I mean by turbo into turbine is if unburned fuel is coming out of your head and igniting in the turbo itself.

I know what you mean, and didn't popdemonic say when driven hard eg extended periods of hi boost?

yep.if i just putting around.everything is ok.it will happen when i'm getting hard driving i mean kick down for more peak boost ,driving for long distance.
let'see some of my friend's assumption

The Audi turbo and exhaust manifold never glows red unless there is a problem in the system. The knock sensor and retardation never gets to the point that makes your turbo and exhaust manifold glowing. The ECU will retard the ignition only to a certain degrees but not to the point that the turbo glows red.

The Audi S6 will drop the boost slightly at higher RPM. If your turbo is overboost, then the ECU will cut off the boost. If you have the turbo exhaust housing and your manifold glowing red, there could be several reasons for it.

1- Damaged or expired Catalytic converter, if your car has one.
2- Faulty O2 sensor.
3- Faulty MAF sensor.
4- Leaking exhaust manifold or turbo downpipe.
5- Overboost with insufficient fuel.
6- Faulty fuel pressure regulator.

Default Well I'm no turbo guru by any means.

My other experience is with 1.8T's and those will glow pretty easily.
