Should I switch to 10W40?

It seems easier to get than the 5W40 I switched to my last oil change. Also, since winter is coming up I thought it wouldn't be the worst choice in the world?

I use a mix of 15w50 M1 and Castrol 5w50, that's becuase i wanted a better startup oil; however seems like even straight 15w50 wouldn't hurt. 10w40 shouldn't be a problem.
How cold does it get where you are?

I'm not sure if you were suggesting the reverse or not. But anyway, I did not like the way my engine sounded at startup during the winter when I was using 10W30. Never tried 10W40.
The engine has never been quieter than with the Mobil 1 5W40 "SUV" oil I have in it now. It's smoother than with any other oil I've tried (15W50, 10W30, 5W30, all Mobil 1).

Fast lubrication on startup - holds it's viscosity when hot.
The SUV tag is a joke. (IMHO)(Well, maybe not - inferior pushrod engine - grossly overweight - the ultimate air dam. - Yeah - the lube needs to be pretty d@mn good.)
