Default so i just changed my brakepads

mostly easy...just one question...how the hell do you guys jack up your cars? my B5 had lift points wide enough to accomodate both the jack and the jackstand. i ended up jacking it up by the subframe...but i'm not sure that's ideal either.

yes. but once you jack it up by the lift point, there's no room to slip in a jackstand

Default Yeah. I have jacks with huge pins that one puts in so they can't go down even if they fail.

When I do use jackstands I usually jack the car up from a good point on the suspension, and then put a jackstand where the jackpoint is. There are also places further in underneath the car.

It's a pain in the ***.

Default so far

what ive found sorta easiest is to drive the car up on planks(two 8x12's) so i can use one jack to get under the rear crossmember; jack up the rear; put jackstands under rear jackpoints...depending on where, maybe at a lower setting first.

then w/the rear secure, i use one jack at each front jackpoint& if im solo i do a couple pumps on each side at a time as i lement over my missing padlike pieces that used to be at all 4 corners & are now only two.

maybe you have those objects at your jackpoints... they make jackstands feel accepteble & provide a good cradle.. or maybe someones got part #s

jus b gentle on the 4000 lb lady

Default you leave your car up on just jacks?

bad idea man. i'd never go under a car that was on just hydraulics.
