So, what other causes could there be to hang up the release of an ebrake cable? Brand new caliper

and both cables were brand new 2 years ago. It's just the passenger side rear caliper that's still not releasing all the way.
Initially over the last 2yrs I did jam and lock-up the ebrake, once or twice due to cold weather sticking the pads & mechanism and a couple times due to the old calipers jamming the spring mechanism on.
Do you guys think I've already mucked up that one cable, either stretched or otherwise corroded? Is there any way to lubricate the cable..? I like using the ebrake & had hoped that my recent replacement of the rear calipers would buy back its use; but to no avail. Since I did just have the exhaust off & the driveshaft out that woulda been an ideal time to replace the cables, so I don't really relish the thought of tearing that crap out all again (ya I know the propshaft doesn't have to come out)..
thoughts?

I did this as a precaution with my S4 when I did a sticky caliper. Seems to have worked.
Worth a try

I recommend checking there and clean/lube and needed.
There is a write up on this I remember reding it,
but I can't find it right now.
