Of course, you probably want something that's quiet, and not as expensive.
What about Yokohoma Avid YK420s? My friend in his MR2 Turbo seems to like them, but he cares only about goign fast, and not turning or stopping.

I did my research, read plenty of reviews of heavy quattros at Tire Rack.
This fared the best of the affordable (under $200 in 245-40-17) ultra high performance tires.
Do you have something to say to the contrary? Have you owned a set of these tires?
FWIW, the Yoko ES100's seemed to get the worst reviews of the same category.
