Default Some K27/S6 stuff

I know some of you guys might cruise over to Motorgeek once and awhile, but figured if you didn't, I'd share some updates on the S6 with everyone...I really think some people on this forum would like the K26/27 hybrid 034 is now offering...it is a true RS2 killer and has wonderful top end power output. Anyways...as far as the car sits now, here's what is done to it:

MTM/Hoppen Stage IV
VEMs Stand Alone Motronic55 ECU
1996 S6 wide 01E transmission
Siemens 60 lb/hr. injectors
Bosch 044 Fuel Pump
KKK K26/27 Hybrid Turbo
RS2 Exhaust Manifold
Lehmann Head (ported and polished w/larger exhaust valves)
Hoppen Built Bottom End
ABT Exhaust
ABT springs/Bilstein Suspension
S6 Plus Front brakes
Kosei K1 TS 17 x 8" Wheels
Kumho Ecsta MX 245/45/17 Tires
Apikol FMIC

two main things concern me at this point...since the Hoppen built cars were done so long ago, there isn't a whole lot of documentation regarding exactly what was put into them, it took some digging and talking with Mike Hoppen to figure out what had been done to the car. #1 when Hoppen built the motor, they lowered the compression by doing "piston work" and according to Mike, they did not change the rods. There might be a possibility that they did on this particular car, but on most of the builds they did, rods were left untouched. #2, from what I can gather the stock clutch is still in the car. It feels GREAT and has held (as you will see) almost 400whp. I don't do any clutch drops, etc...so can't really speak on behalf of the stock clutch's power in that regard, but it DOES hold wonderfully under normal driving conditions/full 33 psi 5th gear pulls.

Anyhow, here's the story on the car...I acquired the car and daily drove it for all of a month before I determined the RS2 turbo that was on it was not exciting by any means. I wanted to put a different turbo on the car, but really wanted something that would simply bolt up to the stock oil and water lines as well as the RS2 exhaust manifold. After a quick look into some guys over on the S2 forum and a talk with Mr.Shadzi, I decided to run a K26/27 turbo on the car to make some better top end power on the car.

Some pics of the hybrid K26/27 turbo from 034:

and she's all back together!

So, here she sits...about to start the VEMs install!

So my buddy's black 93' S4 in the following pics was parked in my space (unmovable) and I had to get some power to my laptop in order to change some of the setting in the VEMs (larger 60 lb. injectors were installed at same time turbo was)hence the weird wiring/computer set-up in the next couple of pics!

BTW, I was on the phone with Marc S. the whole time during this procedure being coached on how to change settings! Thanks Marc

Now, what do you do when your car has a huge snail on it and all the supporting modifications...and no tuning? You drive back cross country to CT for some friendly tuning from the infamous Marc Swanson!

And, the results:

As of right now, the car sits in CT without a front bumper and a newly installed Apikol FMIC on it. I figure I am going to leave it there for the summer in order to join in on some fun track events and such

Marc S. is going to grab the car from CT and clean up some of the air fuel ratios and try and make some more power on pump gas as well...so look back for an update in a few weeks!

Future plans are not all too exciting...going to slap an 034 3" exhaust on the car and take off the intake manifold/valve cover/wastegate to send away and be polished...I really really like how the car feels on the street and just how smoothly it pulls, so I don't think I will touch it "too much." VEMs is incredible and I cannot wait to see some more UrS4/S6 owners use it!

I got video of the dyno day, my buddy had to download it on his computer since he has the video editing software to do so...so stay tuned, I'll post it up in the next day or two

Default Very nice. Two thoughts: 1. needs Wagner RS2 EVO EM; 2. How laggy is that turbo?

Horsepower is not wanting. But I would be curious to know how much more hp would be available with the new Wagner EM.

Default Is that on stock cams?

I didn't see a note anywhere regarding what cams are used. I'm not that familiar with the MTM/Hoppen stage IV laundry list.

Default The Wagner manifold seems like a nice design, I am

interested to see how some people like it once they install it on their cars. Right now the RS2 manifold on the car is great, I have no problems with it.

Spool up on the car is probably 500-700 rpm later than the RS2 unit, however the top end power totally kills the RS2 turbo. When I had the RS2 unit on the car, it was nice for some quick spool, etc...but it falls on its face over 5000 rpm, in my opinion...

Default I'm just getting warmed up :)

didn't have time to dial in timing, I predict well north of 400whp on pump gas all said and done.

Default Thanks

Seems very strong on top for stock exhaust cam, but then I guess the enlarged exhaust ports/valves could be making up for it.

Default I think I couldn't see the MAF in da pic.

I just want to get that one if my car came up with Manual tranny.

Default MAF? MAF!?! Marc S don't need no stinking MAF.

Car is in the same shop that did germantoy's MAF-less tune so I wouldn't be suprised to see it gone.
