Default something wrong with my fan clutch?

When I accelerate (or just depress gas in neutral at standstill) the engine fan is speeding up and slowing down depending on the RPMs of the engine (making a very noticable noise).

Is this caused by fan clutch gone bad? If so, is it hard to replace? Costly?

If not the fan clutch, any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Does it sound like it is taxiing? If so it is locked up and needs to be replaced.

Default No its easy, I use a 32mm Fan clutch slugging wrench.

It is a thin wall wrench that you hit with a hammer to knock the fan clutch loose from the pulley. I believe if I remember correctly that they have left hand threads I know that BMW's do but I always seem to forget whether the Audis are left or right. Maybe someone else can verify that part.
