I stfa but i'm not sure which problem i'm looking at. Had a dead battery from not driving. Now the sunroof is closed when the switch is in the tilt position, open 2 inches when the switch is in the closed position, etc. In addition there is a rattle just above my head (i removed the rain gutter already and have to order the part to fix it). The rattle goes away when the sunroof is open. So is it a bad switch or do I need to reset the sunroof somehow after the dead battery?

I would try this...
Put the sunroof in closed position (regardless of where the wheel thingy is), then pull the fuse, then turn wheel thingy to closed position, reinstall fuse.
I have a reason for thinking this might work, but you'll have to try it to test my theory.

I'll try it. I thought maybe when the roof is closed, pull fuse, turn switch to closed and put fuse back. Just been very lazy lately.

it's probably not the switch. I took mind all apart one time and it was fine, like you said it needs to be reset. IIRC the last time it happened to me I had the battery fully charged and put the switch into the closed position. When I reconnected the battery it reset and closed.
