Default Is there some trick to removing the serp belt/tensioner?

Do they expect you to remove the fan first? I can't get to the 3rd (bottom) serp tensioner bolt because of the fan...

Default Yeah it is much easier to remove the fan to access the bolt, especially if you are

working in that area anyways.

Default Not necessary to remove the fan.

Sounds like your hex bit / ratchet is too big. If you have a 6mm ratcheting wrench (gearwrench etc) you can put a cut off piece of 6mm hex key in it for a really low profile setup, but it shouldn't be necessary in this case...

Default Thanks...I ended up removing the fan...

WOW is it a PITA to get to those 4 bolts that hold it on. Much easier to work in the area with the fan off though.

Got my noisy tensioner roller replaced after all. I've been spoiled by the gobs of room between engine and radiator on 12v C4s...The S4 gods require a bit more skin sacrifice

Default It was about 30k miles ago at this point...

This was the serp belt tensioner bearing...I'm sure it could have gone for a lot longer, but the noise was bothering me. I had a nearly brand new one from my 12v, so no reason not to swap it.
