Default Check plunger switches on the clutch and brake pedals first. . .

if your cruise control is not working at all. That's pretty easy to check. On my S6, the previous owner had the clutch master cylinder replaced. The mechanics backed out the plunger switch on the clutch, and forgot to readjust after replacing the cylinder. A few turns of the switch, and I was good to go.

Default Another potential quick fix is to really spray the switch on the stalk with contact cleaner

It worked for me and for others.
