Default thumping sound
I have a '95 S6 that has a thumping sound at the front of the engine. I put a screwdriver on the accessory belt tensioner and it is very pronounced. Could this noise be transmitted from something else or does it seem obvious that it is the tensioner?

Default Take off the serpentine belt and see if it goes away...at least then you'll know if it's something..
...driven by the belt or not.
