Default Turbo or Valve Seals ?

The new ride started blue smoking on acceleration in first gear. I can floor it at idle or step on it thru the gears and will not see any smoke. It puffs enough to see it blowing on the cars behind me when I release the clutch in first I would think its the turbo seals since the turbo has 200K on it. What gets me is that the turbo has very little shaft play so I thought it was healthy but that is just because the bearings are good I assume. The strange thing is that the car does not use to much oil. Wondering if I should buy a leak down kit any way? Opinions?

Default Is there oil in the intake?

Valve seals usually only leak when the car is first started and before it is warmed up. I'd say doing a pressure and leak down test is not a bad idea, if nothing else, just because it has 200k on it. BTW, how much oil is not much?

Default Re: Is there oil in the intake?

It does not smoke any on warm up. No oil in the intake boot. Only have had to ad 1/4 of a quart since this started, but then again it really got worse only the other day.

Default Ah, crap. If it is getting worse everyday, it could easily be the turbo

valve seals are usually a slow, gradual preocess. As i said, i'd test it, then go from there.

Default Black smoke or white smoke?

Black smoke: injectors, spark plugs, coils...

White smoke: turbo, head gasket, valve seals...
If it's from the turbo or/and from the valve seals it will get worst under WOT when high boost values are achieved.

If you ever need a turbo repair/rebuild I can sell you my K24(rebuilted) for the price you pay for rebuilding yours - Pics in my account.
