been out of town for a week. drove my car for the second time since i've been back today. noticed a loud siren noise at about 3000 rpm OFF boost.
i tried to reproduce it, but couldn't get it to be consistent. then i did a 2nd and 3rd gear pull...i *think* i topped out at 26psi before, but now i'm topping out at 24...so either a boost leak, or the turbo aint doing its job.
the noise doesn't occur at any other RPM, nor does it occur on boost.
idears?

When my K26 went there was no indication until she exploded. A loud "zing" followed by loss in power and huge smoke plume. As far as I can tell tne nut on the compressor wheel spun off followed by disaster.
Regarding boost loss of 2 PSI..did you have cooler temps today? The ECU will adj. based on temps.

when my b5S4 blew its first set, it was just whining. the second time it was catastrophic shaft failure (har har).
yes, it was a bit cooler today...nothing serious...40ish + rain. maybe the wet intercooler reduced temps enough to lower boost. my previous observations were when temps were in the 60's.
