Default urs4 sometimes engaging in reversce

Just picked up an 94 s4 and sometimes the car may not engage in reverse at times it slips right in. I hope it is not the tranny?

Secondly I was thinking of putting b5 s4 6spd tranny in, however is this hard to do? Or should would it be better to rebuild 5spd tranny?

Any suggetions

B5 S4 Six speed can be done easily. One or two minor issues, e.g. dowel pins don't line up in all cases and you lose Pro Con Ten on a UrS4.

I was told by a TECH at the AUDI dealer that a B5 6spd wont bolt up to a C4/S4/S6 ..... and now i hear talk of one dowel pin and ALLAKAZAAM !!!! NEW TRANNY. Any other adjustments to it .. or is it really that easy ?

You need to do some homework. Dowel pin = tranny alignment to engine block guide (also takes torque), independent of the bolts that hold the tranny to the block.

Clutches and flywheels are decisions independent of this particular transmission swap.

Here is your homework assignment:

So u were right .... i had no clue it would bolt up, obviously sounds more difficult in the log by the sounds of it. Am i right in assuming that it kinda sounds a bit dodgy when you have to grind down a this and remove that.
