Default UrS6 "chip"upgrade

I see there are 4 different stages of chip tuning available from TAP1. Can anyone inteligently suggest which I should go with? Obviously I"d like the most bang for the buck +110hp and +125lbs. but is this condusive to a stock engine and 91 octane gas? please help.

Default Skip TAP entirely.

Many better chips available.

Default Agree and add Steve Eiche (Shadetree Software). The best bang for the buck is...

either a chip (often called Stage 1)(IA Stage 3) that will take a 227 hp car with a 2.5 Bar pressure transducer to about 260 hp OR a "Stage 1+" (IA Stage 3+) chip and 3.0 Bar pressure transducer that will take you to about 270 to 280 hp (depending on the supplier and the degree (so to speak) of advance (and potentially pinging) they put into the chip). For any where from about $400 to $700, these will serve you well without need to upgrade the exhaust manifold, turbo, injectors or mass air flow sensor. That's you next step on the slippery slope, after you become bored with 270 hp.

Oh, yeah, and there is Dahlback from TJM Motorsports. Not sure about the pricing on those though.

Mihnea (or MRC) chips are available in North America via Bob Myers at Bob@chips-ur-s.com.

Disaggree. Depends on price/value. Some TAP chips have been Lehman code.

Default Even the Lehman code is "old hat" now though.

Great in it's day, but programming for these cars has come a long way since the early days. TAP was the coolest chip around...in 1994.
