Here's one in much better shape than mine (much further down the restoration road)...
GTIs were made for '78/'79 only. They only differ in exterior graphics between the two years.
That's what a GTI should look like except for the Ronal R8s (originally had 13" steelies with different wheel covers from standard Foxes):
<IMG SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/61281/dscf0121.jpg">
The original Audi sport interior:
3-spoke wheel, sport seats (black pleather w/black corduroy inserts), aux. gauges (all Foxes had them though) and a tach!
Interior was all black without the faux. wood trim that standard Foxes had. Exterior was silver with black trim (instead of chrome on the bumpers, side moldings, window trim, etc.)

Those pix are from Capt Solo's <A HREF="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/users/61281.phtml">picture poster</A>
This is <A HREF="http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3987401">mine</A> (sans 15" Ronals and Mk2 GLI seats).

Yup, there aren't many of us around...I've wanted one for a long time...
...I had hoped for a slightly better example (body/interior wise) but this one is pretty sound mechanically.
Are you a member of <A HREF="http://www.dog.mp3equipped.com/cgi-bin/ubb-cgi_bin/ultimatebb.cgi">DOG</A>? There's a few other GTI (as well as Fox) owners there and is a pretty helpful community - several members have been an invaluable resource for working on these long forgotten Audis!
Where are you from? Any pix of your GTI?

I'm in Maine, car is in Washington State...waiting.....
So I have done zero work to it.
I just have a few pics of it when I found it.
I do, although have a few scans of the original advert of the GTi.
If interested, I can email them to you.
Never heard of DOG, but'll look them up.

They might have came with steelies, but the popular factory add-on..
Was a 13" alloy wheel, which looks similar to those found on the Mk1 Sciroccos.
This wheel is witnessed in the factory adverts.
I have yet to see any pictures of the original cars with the steel wheels.

DOG is stands for "Dasher Owners Group" but it always seems like there's more Fox talk...
...than Dasher talk...
I'd love to see the adverts...I found a few bits online here and there...but haven't seen any scans of the whole brochures and such.
