not that i would ever use that feature, but i always like it when things work and if i cut it and it still drained and my problem was just a bad battery, can i splice it back together easy enough?

Aside from what the others have been saying (do that first), I would look for the obvious first. Second, ANY short in your wiring could be causing your batt not to keep a charge. It could be something related to your car stereo, PDL or it could be that your alternator has a short in it. If I were you (and I was at one point in time) I'd suggest you start going over everything with a voltmeter, narrowing it down at the fusebox.
Good luck,

Disconnect the negative battery cable. Put a 12V 5W light bulb between the cable and the battery's negative post. It will light up. Start pulling the fuses one by one. When the light goes dim, you found your bad circuit.
