what could cause car to suddenly take many cranks to start?

Some voltage drop during cranking is normal...

Default 3 years is a good time to change the battery.

I would like to see what the volts drop down to if you put a new battery in

first time it sat 2 hours, second time it sat 3 hours, 26 degrees outside, I'd say cool-cold

Default so I'll blink for codes, and post if any. one concern was a CPS but have no clue

figure if thats the case there will be a code, even if it has not completely failed yet?

Default CPS = 2113 but I really think its the fuel pump. BTDT (ignored the hard starting and had it fail on

a road trip). Not pretty.

Default so a dieing fuel pump may give difficult starting as a warning to its demise?

I had a pump go out last year, car never gave starting problems though, stupid me replaced with a 120,000 mile old spare pump, so it could be. also would a bad CPS give problems when car is cold? and do I have to jumper the vag connecters in the fuse box to check my codes or can I just cycle the key like on the 200s?
