Ive got a new alpine head unit that i want to throw in the audi--but the bose speakers only run at 2 ohms right?--so if i cut out the individual amps to each speaker and then just ran new wires to the head unit, the speakers would blow out pretty quick huh. . . or would they? Im trying to put off buying new speakers--

There is a shield ground as well, which only connects on one end (I forget which end). The stereo wiring is pretty good from the factory. A new head unit should be nearly plug and play.
Pull the head unit and look at the sticker. The markings are a bit obtuse but all the signals you need are there.
If your new HU has ISO connectors, you may even be able to just plug it in, but definitely verify the pinouts first, on both sides. I know at least the bottom 8 pin is a fairly standard layout.
If you don't have it, buy the Bentley CDROM for the wiring diagrams. It'll make your life easier. All of the stereo wiring is in there.

as to make the ground and pos. into rca lines--then plug and play?---im planning on rewirng the whole system anyways over the summer--but for now, the bose speakers will work with an alpine (or whatever) head unit, as long as wiring is done correctly?
