Default Why does everything go wrong in sub freezing temps?

Left work at 7pm, noticed my tire/wheel sound weird, pulled over at a garage (they were closed). Flat tire. Fine, I've changed tires in 7 degree temps before. Nice, my trunk is frozen shut so I can't get the spare out. OK, I'll lock the doors and walk the mile back to work, great, my locks are so frozen, that I can't even get the key into them. Should be OK there. What a pain. Always had trouble getting the trunk open even in warm weather.

Default Drove on a more then 400 mile round trip today in -2 to -9 temps, not a single problem.

P.S. we DO have heated door locks, you know.

Except for weird Canadian cars that should have been crushed.

Default check your car, but i don't think ours came with heated locks

check the panel with the relays, under the hood. The one labeled for the heated locks is empty with no connector on my car. Doesn't matter because i never use the key to unlock the door anyways, always the IR fob.

Default Don't park near any flourescent lights on cold nights, then

My infrared completely stops working near some flourescent lights. Usually in parking garages, but last night it happened in front of a store with a flourescent sign. Had to use the key...

i found with the cq that sometime the other door isn't frozen, or at least not as much.
