The wire insulation tends to crack right near the coil leading to possble shorts...

and burnt up coils. I would think some preventative heat shrink tubing would be a good idea, but how would you get the tubing on the wires? Is there an alternative? A dab of silicone?

I don't mean scotch tape. Good 3M electrical tape will last longer than the rest of the car.

Actually scotch tape would be perfect...
