Has anyone hard-wired a radar detector into their rear view mirror wiring using a mirror tap? I have a 2023 Q4 etron and can’t find anything on how the wiring works.

The wiring diagram here (https://cardiagn.com/audi-q4-e-tron-...mirror-4l64l7/) seems to indicate that we would wire the black mirror tap wire to the brown wire on the rear view (GND) and the red mirror tap wire to the purple/green wire but that wasn’t working for me. Maybe the connectors weren’t seated correctly?

Personally, I would avoid tapping and run a wire directly to fuse box.

You have a 2023 E-Tron, and you're attempting to do this yourself? If you can afford an E-Tron, don't be cheap and let a professional do it, that is why different people have different jobs and skillsets. You could really screw up your electrical system trying to save a couple of hundred bucks assuming the role as a Shade-tree mechanic. Bad Idea!

I just took my new 2-week-old 91k Q8 to an Exotic Car Specialist and brought them the Blendmount mount and the Mirror Tap cable I purchased beforehand to have my Escort Redline 360c and M2 installed. The technician looked me right in the eyes and said, "You don't want to tap into your mirror, bad idea" He gave me a handful of reasons why I shouldn't, I said "You're the professional, do what you think is best." He used a harness and did an absolute beautiful job, it looks like it came from the factory that way, and I know I'm not going to have any issues. This guy does this for a living. I guess that's why I don't attempt to brain surgery in my spare time, because I know it would be ugly.
