The dealership confirmed the part number was for my car and they had exactly one in stock. Not sure why they have it listed for $970.20 in their system but almost half off on their website. I ended up just ordering through their web. Hopefully it goes through because I haven't received any confirmation as of yet.

They just shipped. I will upload pictures when I receive it. Should have it in a day or two as they're local.

the reason for the low price is that it is a warrantied part that typically only an audi dealer will buy and eat the cost on, so they lower the cost to ease their burden. If the part wasn’t warrantied, rest assured it would be a few thousand dollars like it was a year ago 😅

The alternator I purchased and had installed was 4N0-903-028-R. This was May 2022 and has been running fine since. Since it isn't the revised part, I wonder how long it will last?

4N0903028R is still pulling up and not redirecting to that other part as of right now, but my understanding is that RS is somewhat separate, so maybe very soon, we'll see a change.

The bigger point here, that I think I will post in the main thread, is that it looks like there has been a part update. I am still assuming that date is Sept. 1st, which is very recent.

Am I allowed to celebrate now that there's a new part number or is it premature

I'm optimistic, but jury is still out imo. the P is the one that is redirecting to the 4N1, I haven't checked all the other part numbers. R is not redirecting, but it's for the RS cars, so that kind of makes sense to me since I understand RS runs somewhat separately.

@nihal566 For the Q8 w an April 2023 build date, the only way i know to know the part number for that BSG is to take off the bottom panel, and lay eyes on the sticker. you may be able to do it from the top w a mirror of phone. There is no PR code that will tell us which exact alternator part is used in this case.

Quick search on parts.audiusa.com for 2022 - 2023 Q8 shows 4N0903028PX as their part number. Interesting. I wonder why the previous years are using a completely different part number.

@hcuorg that is because the part number w the x is refurbished, is you remove the x and re search it will map you to the 4N1 part.
