I was reading Edmunds and the section “Storage” they describe the towing package:

The optional towing package gives the Q8 a towing capacity of 7,700 pounds, which is generous for the class. A trailer maneuver assist feature automatically guides the trailer while reversing — the driver swipes to control it on the lower MMI infotainment display.

Is this is the US car or only in European Model? I thought Edmunds was a US review?

I know for 2019 and 2020 it was the Euro/ROW model only that had the trailer assist. It can be activated on US models using VCDS/OBDeleven so all the hardware is there to make it work.

Maybe they are finally introducing it for 2021 if Edmunds is mentioning it but there's no mention of it when building a 2021 Q8.

Trailer Assist you can code also in US version. The necessary coding you can find in OBDEleven thread.

I meant that in the OBDEleven thread on this forum one of the participants posted all the coding and adaptations needed to enable Trailer Assist

I know that I read it in Edmunds but also in a San Antonio Blog (2019) but can’t confirm if it is accurate or not likely not as the writer likely just took info from the brochure as they stated:

Q8 has frameless windows, a rare feature for an SUV. The doors fit as solid and airtight as any with frames. My Q8 had a towing package ($660) and could tow up to 7,700 pounds. A trailer maneuver assist feature could automatically guide the trailer while reversing.
