We believe there is a new part...we are just waiting for someone to upload an post repair paper work that shows it. Someone bought a BSG, and the part that we thought was current, mapped to another part, that is new.

In addition to reporting the issue to NHTSA, have you lodged a complaint to Audi USA for your case? (I am aware of the class action lawsuit, but was wondering if people are seeking additional compensation for not being able to drive the vehicle while waiting for the part)

- They still have a lot of BSG replacements in cars with 48V installation, but their number has been systematically decreasing for about half a year. At the peak, they had as many as 15-20 cars a month with this problem.
- There were some cases where they also had to replace a 48V battery damaged by a faulty BSG.
- Audi never informed them what was the cause of these failures.
- New BSGs have new catalog numbers and they suspect that this is due to the change of their manufacturer. So far they haven't had any complaints about these new BSGs.
- There are already several independent workshops that repair these BSGs by replacing the electronics. But they also don't want to say what exactly is being replaced and this repair is quite expensive.

I just came back from the Audi dealership where I talked to a friendly chief mechanic. I asked him about the current situation related to BSG faults. Here's what he told me:

We still never got confirmation on the release date for 4N1903028 - I believe it is Sept. 1st, 2023, because CarProg2 isn't a US site, and probably uses DD/MM/YYYY for the date format. If I am wrong, that could mean the part was released Jan. 9th, 2023 - but that just doesn't seem likely since we were all over the part number last spring. Someone would have found this new part number back then.

Thomas, according to ETKA new BSGs for Q8 with numbers 4N1903028 and 4N1903028A are from June 21st, 2023. New BSG for RSQ8 with number 4N1903028B were introduced also at the same date. All older models were 4N0.
Angry, he didn't tell me what new BSG numbers he had in mind, but I think they are those with the date June 21st, 2023. I don't see any other new catalog numbers apart from these three.
Considering that for logistical reasons the USA may be delayed in introducing new parts, it is possible that these new BSGs are only now reaching your dealers.
Do we know if anyone with the new BSG with number 4N1 had any problem with it? My Audi technician told me that they haven't recorded any failure of the new BSG so far.
