You know what is strange. Are the Porsche EA839s also mild hybrid? B/c on Google, I see like 0 references to BSG woes.

funny, I knew there was an issue with my 2020. Weird electrical stuff going on besides the fact it was the V8 and had to have oil added between oil changes so glad I traded that in. I’ve had zero issues with my 2022 V6 A8L. So I guess the big question is for a 2024 Q8 for my wife have they fixed the issue?

I recall someone asked this before, I just can't find the post. If I remember correctly, it depends on the build date. As the new alternator just came out sometime this year. We've yet to know for sure if the new alternator part fixes the issues. I've read that service advisors believe this new part will fix it but who knows. Still too early to tell.

The BSG was replaced at 68,000 miles in my 2019 Q8 Premium Plus under CPO warranty. Not sure it would be covered if it fails again, and that is a huge factor in the decision to keep it or not. Love the vehicle otherwise.

Yes, it's covered for 7 years from the in service date of the car.

Driving this morning and got the dreaded Electrical System Malfunction message. Unfortunately I’m an hour from my dealer. They told me not to drive it. Gonna have it towed in.

I hope that it is true. If so, the dealer did not mention it. Is that a blanket extension for all, or a once repaired extension? The dealer was not aware of the new BSG being installed being any different than the old one.

Hi All,
I received the exact same "Electrical System Malfunction - please pull over safely" message in my 2020 Q8 Premium-Plus (33k miles). This thread provided a lot of help (and a little peace of mind) when I was waiting for my vehicle in the service center so I hope to do the same for anyone else suffering this issue.
My vehicle died on the expressway and I had it towed to the Audi Brooklyn Service Center on 11/28/23. I received the "Electrical System Malfunction" message and a few other messages following it. The truck died less than 2 minutes after and all screen displays went black and even the windows rolled down halfway. When I got to the service department, they told me they had several vehicles in for the same issue and the part would take 2-4 weeks. Obviously, I didn't get a loaner on that day, but was lucky one became available two days later. I won't go into further detail about the issue because I'm not technologically sound with regards to car mechanics, but as a majority of people said here it's the 48V generator (alternator). Luckily, I was still under lease so it was covered with no out of pocket cost.
I picked up my truck today (12/8/23), even though I expected to be waiting 30 days instead of 11 days. They told me they got the part earlier than expected which I'm not complaining, but I'm still wondering why they gave such a long lead time. Naturally, they offered to replace all my tires, brake pads, engine filter, and wheel alignment for just under $10,000, which I happily declined with 2 months remaining on lease.
I'm not sure if Audi is now prepared to fix these issues because the parts are readily available or I just lucked out with only waiting 11 days. If anyone has any questions feel free to reply here because I just dealt with this issue.
