Funny their reasoning is that the failure could inhibit start/stop and thus emissions. Never mind that the failure will eventually render the car inoperable -- that's fine -- as long as the start/stop doesn't malfunction.

Glad all the A8 and Q8's might get done. As for the A7 and A6's we might have to wait another year or two for the 8"s to get done before its our turn !!

(please ignore my snarkyness as I've been waiting for 2yr for something to be done already)

Exactly my thoughts when I read the letter. I guess they are being cautious here because citing anything safety related that could increase the risk of a crash leading to injury or death would require a recall which they clearly want to avoid. The most important is something is being done, at last.

I know people are referring to this as a recall, but it is not a recall...just so there isn't confusion. it feels like a recall, but the difference is this is being done voluntarily by audi, and audi can control the order than they do the work etc.

It's a "service action" versus a "recall" for this very reason.

I have followed this issue on several forums for a couple of years now. First with our ‘21 Q8 and now with our ‘23 Q8. Love the car- hate the BSG worry.

Despite all my reading, I have not found any posts with definitive information as to whether the problem was eliminated for the ‘23 model year. (ours has a manufacture date of 02/2023)

Have I missed it or is it because there is no definitive answer out there yet?

I have a 2019 A6, I have not received a letter and there are no recalls or service actions under my VIN when I use the Audi online search tool. However, when I was physically at the dealership, I had them look it up and they said that my VIN is covered and I am scheduled to have the BSG replaced mid-June.

that is very good news for you. I looked up my VIN couple days ago and nothing. My dealer service guy is bugging me to get in for the yearly oil change, best hope is when I talk to him he tells me the same thing.

EDIT: I just called my dealer and they do in fact have my A7 listed as available to get the BSG replaced. So I've scheduled it to be done next week. YAY !! Maybe I can drive on a trip again !!
