Exactly. The same here. I’m out of warranty but Audi will replace it at no charge (parts and labor). You should complain and say you know about the problem occurring on hundreds of vehicles, I also recommend you show them this forum.

I visited Audio of Baton Rouge yesterday and the service manager was fairly certain that Audi would be covering the non-warranty cars as well. Although he did not put anything in writing or make me a "promise", he was very reassuring....
He has received 8 alternators in the last 60 days, 3 of those 8 needed the lithium battery as well.

I live in California and had te original Audi Allroad 4.2 twin turbo. I had numerous issues with the turbo intakes then the air suspension and had to dealer way too many times. I did call the regional Audi factory rep and he was nice enough but no out come. I wrote a detailed letter of all my service records and asked for a buyback but no response. So I put it up for sale and reluctantly sold it to a nice young family. Well the day after they bought it I got a Fedex delivery and it was a letter informing me that they will buy back the car and a check is waiting for me at my dealer. I immediately called the couple and told them the story and actually gave them $1000 fit the hassle. Now the interesting thing is I bought this car used and shipped it from Texas and paid $40,000. So I got the car back from the couple and drove to my dealer and they handed me the check and I gave them the keys signed paperwork and I was gone with a check for $40,000. If all of us are persistent Audi will listen.

So my service rep looked at the TSB and said while my model and model year are covered, he said my specific vehicle was not expected to be subject to the concerns listed when looking up my VIN. Is this possible, or do you think it is just a line?

There is theTSBs concerning alternator problems which concerns all cars up to 2021 not only cars wth specific VINs. Just in case ask your service for their refusal in writing but if your SQ8 is 2022 it may not be covered by this TSB.

There is a newer TSB (27 22 45) which covers like every model and all vins though MY 2023: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...22114-0001.pdf

I would send the dealer the mail which they have to answer and confirm that your car doesn't need any software update. I would also attache the TSB copy to this mail.
