I have a mac, and it looks like it is windows only, I will have to make sure my parallels windows box is update date before I do this so it will probably be tomorrow.

I'm a bit confused...
So, if my car have PR code 0K0, then I have a conventional air-cooled starter-alternator that has no problems?

Yes, it seems. I assume you have an SQ8, in north america. I re read the TSB, it applies to address cc which only is used for the liquid cooled BSG. 0K0 code is on cars with the denso air cooled alternator. This issue won’t happen to you if you have an air cooled denso alternator.

we are still researching, but I think ur safe.

Good news. Yes, I have a SQ8, but a bit from the other side of the planet, in Ukraine.

can u confirm your car has the denso? is your car the diesel? if you have the denso, it will look like a normal alternator. if you have the liquid cooled the alternator will be solid.

@a75 I am not a coding expert, but assuming 0K0 means the same thing everywhere, your car has one of the air cooled alternators even if it doesn’t have the denso. there are about 5 different ones if you reference the image @Mrclopec posted that lists them.

How can I find out? Everything is too tight under the hood, it is impossible to just see the alternator.
I only see the following in the list of PR codes: 9G5 alternator 140–210 А

No. As you can see in my signature, this is V8 TFSI
