This is excellent news!! Now if my dealership will actually cooperate. I’m 2.5hrs away so betting they will not want to pay for towing.

Has it been confirmed that the SQ8 is not affected since it uses a traditional alternator instead of the BSG?

I was told by my sales rep that his service advisor said this issues rarely happens on the SQ7 and SQ8. All the cars that came in for this was predominantly Q7s and Q8s. I pressed for why the discrepancy but was told they're not sure.

Has there been anything Audi has put in writing about the extended warranty to 7 years? The last TBS I’ve read still reads 50k/48months

Prior to selling my Q8 I received a letter from AoA, dated Feb 2023 that gave details of the extended warranty for my vehicle.

Does anyone happen to have copy of the letter? Haven’t changed address but never received letter.

If your car has the traditional alternator, you will not have this issue. As far as we can tell, almost every SQ8 sold in the US the traditional alternator. There are some market differences between regions and are SOME cars that fall out side the "typical" build - so there are always a few exceptions. However, in the US, typically, Q8 and RSQ8 have the BSG, and will have the issue, SQ8 cars do not because they do not have the BSG.

A copy of this warranty extension that at least one other person has received is here: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/aud.../#post25791149

mmm, you might be surprised. this is a MAJOR issue, and they are really trying to keep things under warps. if your dealer will not, call audi of america. worst case, you can have the car towed, keep your receipts, and you will probably get the $ back even if it takes a while. they know it will be cheaper for them to tow it than for you to tow it and have them reimburse you.

So by that logic SQ7s are also not affected since it uses the same 06E903024T alternator. Guess there's truth to what the SA was saying about the types of cars this issue is affecting.

I can sleep a bit tonight as I'm taking delivery of my SQ7 tomorrow.
