Just purchased the blend mount for my Redline 360C and M1 dash cam. works nicely. The mirror tap I need isn't in stock. Where are you guys puchasing?
I ordered the Blend Mount for my Uniden R7 today from Blend directly. They are out of the tap (MT-1015) for mine as well. I signed up for the email alert
The taps are pretty universal. Amazon has quite a selection. I used an old tap from the Escort Smart Radar I bought about 6 years ago. Right now I have both an Escort IXc and the M1 camera hanging from a BlendMount. The old tap handles both easily. Plus, it was very easy to connect the tap using the photos in the previous posting. Just use care in removing the trim. An inexpensive set of trim removal tools may also be a good investment. Always something to change out. In two months I've replaced the rings with black ones and the rear SQ8 emblem, also. I've leaving the front one original, but I bought special black (carbon fiber pattern) license plates to match up with the black optic trim on the pearl gray car. Thinking about the carbon fiber mirror units, but install looks a little more complicated than I want to do now.

Reason: left out word

So did you just slide the trim removal tool in at the 3 places shown on the first drawing and giving a little pry? I haven't worked on my Audi before but I have found a wide range of difficulty on other makes when it comes to getting pieces to pop off (Toyota FJ - super easy, Acura MDX - a little more stubborn).
I only needed to remove cover 1. Once it was off, I simply 'fished out" the connector and inserted the two tap wires into the appropriate spots (not easy to insert, so be careful and work
them in slowly). As far as the cover, just use the smallest tool you have, and work slowly to identify where the tabs are.

Only the large cover (#1 in DR_HAM's photo). The connecting block is easy to fish out with that cover removed. As I recall the tap wires are inserted into the brown (positive) and black (ground) holes. Again, it's very tight, so work slowly. I used a small pair of needle nose pliers to work the taps in. If you have a small hook tool similar to the one in my photo, pulling out/down with it while pushing up on the center of the cover slightly may help in its removal.

Thanks. Did you have to drill a hole in cover #1 to clear the cord coming out to detector? If you could shoot a photo of yours when you have a chance, that would be awesome.
No hole. The tap wires were long enough to route to an area of the cover where they could slip between the cover edge and windshield. The cover would then clip securely back in place. I'll try to get a few photos later, although they probably won't show much. It's a very neat installation, even with the Escort camera.
