Working on this currently with C8 models and it will be similar for the Q8. Modules need to be flashed using either VCP or VAS and then coding is required. This could all be done remotely and won't require any wiring work which is nice.
Cheers,

Do you know if the "Matrix-design" LEDs in the upper-trim A4 Allroad and/or A6 Allroad have the necessary hardware for your friend to do the activation?

A completely illegal 'solution' based on 'average' values wrt calibration.
If you aren't coming to flat out post the name of the shop and/or the contact, I wouldn't call it a "we have the solution now". More like a "we have a back door to an illegal solution". Each person should freely decide for themselves based on actual 'facts'. That is - this modification has serious implications from an insurance and legal perspective and the cost benefit isn't going to be clear to everyone.
If Audi were to charge me $10K for this, I'd gladly hand them my money - provided it was legal. The fact that this is an illegal mod is what stands out to me. Transport Canada and the NHSTA have *not* approved this. I would probably be more inclined to go with this if the proper calibration would be done as per elsaweb, but it cannot be, right now.

Well who gives a **** if it’s legal or not I did it ,(with the same guy from downtown Toronto) this feature is freaking amazing this LED dance lights it’s like a freaking show when you’re driving in dark, you see so much more and so much farther away much safer drive ,you feel more confident I think you have so much more reaction for any animal jumping on the road. Again one word this is GENIUS
